About the team at Metro Utility Worx

Where it all began

Founder of Metro Utility Worx (previously Metro Pits) Damien Dwyer, started out in business in the 90’s with a domestic electrical business which focused on new home/dwelling projects. The business began to scale through strategic relationships and extended into the apartment sector with a larger building company.

The business kept going from strength to strength after this, securing a number of consecutive apartment builds and growing as a team – in line with the scale of projects and customers.

This success provided Damien with the opportunity to research other potential niche markets in the wider electrical service industry.

In 2011, Damien saw the opportunity to enter the Power Supply Industry market with a contract for one of Victoria’s major energy supply companies.

The Focus On Pole To Pit

Unlike the prior construction alignment, the Metro Utility Worx operation provides Pole to Pit connections, Hydro Excavation services, VEDN Auditing and Civil Project work, growing to five full-time crews on the team.

Due to quality workmanship and safe work practises, Metro Utility Worx enjoys a very strong rapport with our customers along with the relevant industry, council and WorkSafe inspectors.

In March 2016, Metro Utility Worx commenced a multi-year contract with Zinfra installing Pole to Pit’s infrastructure in the Jemena and United Energy Networks. Over the past 4 ½ years, Metro Utility Worx has now installed over 3000 pits for Zinfra in the Jemena Network area – receiving excellent results on all external safety and quality audits conducted by Jemena and Zinfra.

Through our continued performance and service, Metro Utility Worx has become one of the main contractors to Zinfra in the Jemena Network, and we are highly motivated to continue and improve on this.

As part of our ongoing development, we now hold ISO accreditation across ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
